Nursery children at our school recently had a fun and educational experience learning about sea transportation. They made their own Pinisi boats using sandwich ingredients such as ham and cheese during their culinary arts class.
Pinisi boats are traditional Indonesian vessels used for centuries to transport goods and people across the seas. By making these boats themselves, the children could gain a deeper understanding of the history and culture of Indonesia.
The children were fully engaged in the process of creating their Pinisi boats. They carefully assembled their sandwiches, cut them into boat shapes, and added sails from toothpicks and ham. The result was a delicious and creative representation of a traditional Indonesian boat.
Experiences like these not only promote creativity and hands-on learning but also help to broaden children’s perspectives and understanding of other cultures. We are proud to offer our students such unique and enriching opportunities, and we look forward to many more exciting learning experiences.
