In celebration of UN Week, students had the opportunity to “travel” across the globe, exploring the rich cultures, languages, and traditions of different countries—all within their school! This engaging event aimed to help young learners understand and appreciate the diverse world around them, highlighting the importance of unity, peace, and global friendship.
The classrooms were transformed into mini-exhibits representing different countries. Each class selected a country to represent, decorating their rooms with flags, maps, artifacts, and traditional items unique to that place. Teachers guided the kids in learning some basic greetings, songs, and fun facts about each culture. Some students wore traditional outfits and shared simple phrases in the languages of their “host” countries, adding excitement to the global exploration.
From the towering Eiffel Tower in France to the colorful markets of India, students moved from room to room, stamping their “passports” as they “visited” each country. They also enjoyed sampling international snacks, learning about foods from Japan, Mexico, Italy, and more. Through these activities, the children began to see how food, language, and customs make each culture unique yet beautifully connected.
UN Week was filled with curiosity, laughter, and new knowledge. The students walked away with a broader understanding of the world and a sense of connection to people from different places. This celebration of diversity encouraged them to respect, appreciate, and embrace other cultures, nurturing a spirit of unity that aligns with the values of the United Nations.
