Kids Celebrate Chinese New Year with Joyful Traditions and Fun Festivities

Created : 13 February 2025

Chinese New Year is an exciting time for preschoolers, especially because of the fun tradition of angpao, or red envelopes filled with money. Kids love to receive angpao from parents, grandparents, and other family members. The bright red color of the envelope is special because it means good luck and happiness for the new year. When preschoolers open their angpao and see the money inside, they feel happy and excited. This tradition helps children learn about the joy of giving and receiving and connects them to the celebrations of Chinese New Year.

For young children, receiving an angpao is also a chance to learn about respect and gratitude. After getting their red envelope, they are often encouraged to say “thank you” to the person who gave it to them. This teaches them the importance of being polite and appreciating the kindness of others. It’s a simple but important lesson in showing appreciation for the love and blessings they receive from their family.

Through the angpao tradition, preschoolers also begin to understand the meaning of good fortune. While the money inside the envelope is fun, it’s the blessings and wishes for happiness, health, and success that are most important. Children learn that angpao is a way for families to share good wishes with each other and celebrate the start of a new year filled with hope and happiness. It’s a joyful and meaningful tradition that brings families closer together.
