Calm Minds, Strong Bodies: Nursery 2 Students Explore the Benefits of Yoga at Kipinä Kids Surabaya

Created on 15 September 2025

At Kipinä Kids Surabaya, we believe that education is not just about academics—it’s also about nurturing healthy bodies, calm minds, and positive habits for life. That’s why our Nursery 2 students recently joined a special Yoga for Kids class, designed to help them explore movement, mindfulness, and relaxation in a fun and age-appropriate way.

During the session, the children practiced simple yoga poses inspired by nature and animals—such as “tree pose,” “cat stretch,” and “butterfly wings.” With gentle guidance from their teacher, they learned to balance, stretch, and breathe deeply, turning movement into a joyful adventure.

The benefits of yoga for young children are truly powerful:
Improved Focus and Concentration – Through breathing exercises and mindful movements, children learn how to calm their thoughts and pay attention, skills that support future learning in school.
Physical Strength and Flexibility – Balancing, stretching, and holding poses help build muscle strength, coordination, and body awareness, which are important for active play and growth.
Emotional Regulation – Yoga teaches children to recognize and manage their feelings. By practicing relaxation, they learn healthy ways to handle stress, big emotions, and everyday challenges.
Confidence and Self-Esteem – Each time they successfully hold a pose, children feel proud of their abilities, boosting self-confidence and encouraging them to try new things.

Parents often notice how children bring yoga’s calming effects home—whether it’s taking a deep breath before bedtime or practicing a simple pose when they feel upset. These small steps are big milestones in teaching independence and resilience.

At Kipinä, we focus on purposeful learning experiences that go beyond the classroom. The yoga class for Nursery 2 is one example of how we blend physical education, mindfulness, and fun to support the holistic growth of every child. By learning yoga at an early age, children develop not only healthier bodies but also the foundations of a peaceful mind—preparing them for a balanced and successful future. 🌈
