Created On: 15th Feb 2026 In Seals Nursery 2, children learn best through meaningful and joyful experiences. This week, our young learners explored the important roles of police officers and firefighters through engaging role play activities that combined safety awareness, empathy, teamwork, and early numeracy learning.

The experience began with children recognizing community helpers and understanding their responsibilities. They then practiced an essential real-life skill—pretending to call the emergency number 112. During this activity, children identified numbers, pressed the correct sequence, and learned when and why emergency services are needed. This simple yet powerful moment supported both numeracy development and real-world understanding.
As the role play continued, the classroom transformed into an exciting rescue scene. Some children acted as firefighters bravely putting out pretend fires, while others became police officers helping keep everyone safe. They worked together to rescue a friend, carry a stretcher carefully, and respond to emergencies with teamwork and care.
Through this meaningful play, children developed:
- Confidence and bravery while taking on heroic community roles
- Empathy and cooperation when helping and rescuing others
- Communication and language skills through discussion and storytelling
- Early numeracy skills by recognizing numbers and dialing 112 in sequence
- Creativity and imagination in building their own rescue scenarios
Most importantly, this learning experience helps children understand that real heroes are not only brave, but also kind, responsible, and ready to help others.
Through purposeful and joyful exploration in Seals Nursery 2, children continue to grow in knowledge, character, and compassion—building strong foundations for their future learning journey.
