Interactive Literacy Workshop: Growing Confident Readers, Writers, and Lifelong Learners

Created on 15 August 2026

At Kipinä Kids Surabaya, we recently welcomed parents to our Interactive Literacy Workshop for Parents, a meaningful afternoon filled with new ideas, conversations, and practical insights about children’s literacy development. The workshop invited parents to look beyond simply learning letters and words and explore how everyday moments could become opportunities for children to enjoy reading and writing.

During the session, parents explored the Finnish approach to literacy, where learning was encouraged through curiosity, play, stories, and meaningful interaction. From sharing a book together to talking about pictures, asking questions, and introducing new words, parents discovered how small moments at home could help children develop confidence and a genuine love for learning.

Led by Shareen Ratnani, Vice President of Academics and Operations of Kipinä Kids Indonesia, the workshop gave parents practical ideas they could bring into their daily routines. It was a wonderful opportunity for parents and educators to learn together, share perspectives, and discover how we could create stronger literacy foundations for children, one story, one word, and one little step at a time.
