At the beginning of our academic year, our Squirrels class engaged in a meaningful home-to-school activity designed to build core 21st-century skills. The children went home with a question and opened a discussion with their parents on thoughtful topics where they explore gratitude, favorite family memories, the importance of kindness, caring for the Earth, and even their dream superpowers. Afterwards, the students brought their findings back to the classroom to present and discuss with their peers. This interactive project actively cultivated critical thinking as children pondered big ideas, communication and public speaking as they shared their stories, and collaboration and global citizenship as they listened to diverse perspectives and learned how to care for their community and planet.
