Counting with The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

Created on 15th October 2026

Who knew a little caterpillar could make counting so much fun?

Ocognising numbers and counting the correct number of objects to match each numeral.

As tur N2 children at Kipinä Kids Kelapa Gading 2 enjoyed a counting activity inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Using a colourful caterpillar and small objects, the children practised rehey picked up and placed each object, they also worked on their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and concentration. The activity introduced one-to-one correspondence, an important early math skill where children learn to count objects one at a time and understand that each number represents a quantity.

For our N2 children, learning numbers takes time and lots of practice. Using familiar stories, colourful materials, and simple activities makes counting easier to understand and more enjoyable.

And sometimes, a little caterpillar is all we need to make math interesting!
