Literacy & Math Activities: Learning with The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Our little learners at Kipina Kids Kelapa Gading 1 enjoyed a fun-filled learning experience inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle! Through engaging literacy and math activities, the children explored letters, practised number recognition, and developed essential early learning skills through hands-on play.
Literacy Activity: Growing the Hungry Caterpillar
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is growing! The children completed the caterpillar’s body by adding colourful circles featuring pictures that begin with the /g/ sound. This engaging activity encouraged the children to recognise beginning sounds, strengthen their early phonics skills, and build connections between letters and words while bringing the beloved story to life.
Math Activity: Counting with the Hungry Caterpillar
Let’s help the Very Hungry Caterpillar count! The children stepped on each numbered part of the caterpillar’s body while saying the numbers in the correct order. By combining movement with counting, they practised number recognition, developed sequencing skills, and strengthened their understanding of numbers in an active and enjoyable way.
Through these playful learning experiences, our little learners discovered that literacy and mathematics can be exciting adventures! At Kipina Kids, we make learning meaningful by providing opportunities for children to explore, move, think, and grow with confidence.
